Exercise: Golden conures are active birds that need at least three to four hours of supervised exercise and play time each day. They enjoy climbing, so provide toys like ropes, ladders, and swings. A play stand can give them a home base with toys while still allowing them to feel free outside of the cage.

Dark, leafy greens, Squash, Berries, Melons, Brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Birdseed as an occasional treat
Wheat pasta and/or beans as a special treat once a month
A cuttlebone to keep their beaks healthy

Cage size: Conures need a large cage to climb around in.

Wing trims: Wing trims are recommended for safety.

Chewing: Golden conures are heavy chewers, so provide plenty of chew toys to spare your belongings. Wood is a good choice because it’s easy to replace, but they also like leather, rope, and beads.

Vocalization: Golden conures are very loud with a metallic call that can travel a great distance. Chicks start vocalizing as adults when they are just a few weeks old.

Lifespan: Golden conures can live up to 60.9 years in captivity, though one specimen lived 23.2 years. They can breed from about 3 years of age in captivity
